Ride The Rockies

Time to exercise your British Car and enjoy the twisty back roads just outside of Denver.

Hosted by the Colorado English Motoring Conclave, The tour will begin at the Oak Park parking lot. After an introduction and witty bantor from our tour master, participants will strike out following his written directions for a drive along the back roads and into the hills just outside of Denver that were just meant for British Cars.

As always, the tour will incorporate a 'Gimmick Rally' consisting of questions whose answers will be found along the route. The tour will end at a 'secret' resturant or brew pub choosen by your guide where you will turn in your answer sheets and be confonted by a series of  Bob's infamous tie-breaker questions. Usually these are British automotive or slang themed but brush up on the history of The Beatles as well.

Don't wait until Sunday to begin the fun! Make your Conclave weekend complete by participating in the tour on Saturday. But remember, this is a FUN TOUR! Nothing serious or earth shattering will occur, just driving fun!

Date:        Saturday, September 16th, 2017

Logistics:    8:30 am Vehicles assemble at Oak Park

10:00 am "Ride the Rockies" tour commences

awards will be presented on Sunday

Your Registration includes both the Saturday Tour and the Sunday Conclave

2017 Children's Hospital Car Show and Toy Drive

As discussed at the CCCC meeting on May 3rd,  there is a car show at the Children's Hospital.  13123 E 16th Ave.  Aurora, Co

June 24th 9AM to Noon.

Entry fee for the Car Show is as many new toys you can get into your car and donate to the Hospital Treasure Chest for the sick kids at the Hospital.  The show is a people choice award and the kids at the Hospital are the judges.

This show is all about getting some new toys for the Kids at the Hospital.  The Kids really appreciate the toys and they do make their time go a little bit better for them while there.  Remember that there are some kids there that are not babies - they love board games and such for older kids.  The gifts must be new and unwrapped.

There is parking for 300 cars for the show.

Please help these kids!!

Glenwood Rally

The MG Car Club – Rocky Mountain Centre invites you to help us celebrate our 65th Annual Rallye Glenwood Springs, the oldest continually-held time-speed-distance rallye in the United States, on, June 9-11, 2017.

The first Rallye Glenwood Springs began with a hardy group of MGCC-RMC sports car owners who discovered the joys of top-down motoring in Colorado when MGs still had running boards and the new TR2 and powerful XK-120 were just beginning to be sold by Colorado car dealers. Imagine what Colorado mountain roads were like during that 1953 Rallye—gravel (some pavement!), no guardrails, single-lane bridges, hairpin curves, sheer cliffs, and thin air.

Mead Motorheads Memorial Day Car Show

As a member of the Mead Motorheads, I told our local organizing committee that Ithought it would be wonderful to invite some foreign vehicles to grace our show up here on Monday May 29th (Memorial Day). Janet says that you do have some members who live in the northern suburbs.

So, I was wondering if you think there might be some folk in the Triumph Club, who would like to bring their cars up to show alongside of other marques that run from 1930s to 1975? Most years there are American cars that folk in Northern Colorado bring to this show.  A couple of years ago we had a 1962 Ferrari GTO, that had just run in the Colorado Grand, appear here.

We have a maximum of 115 car spaces available in the beautiful downtown Mead park. I've asked the lead promoter to send you an official invite, if you know of some folk in the Triumph club who might consider such.

All the best,
Torrey Brinkley

Drive your Triumph Day

My name is Rye Livingston and I'm with the Triumph Travelers Sports Car Club in Northern California. A few years ago I encouraged the members or our club to drive their Triumph on February 10th, to celebrate Sir John Black's Birthday, the man who organized Standard's purchase of Triumph after the war, and went on to make the cars we enjoy driving today.

The concept is to go for a drive on a country road, to lunch, to the market, to work, where ever. Go for a drive alone, with a spouse, buddy, child, grandchild or their dog, maybe a few other Triumphs; then take a photo. The photo is mainly of the car, ideally in front a cool spot, landmark, in front of a market or hardware store. Then send me the photo with basic info: name and place photo was taken. The photos were published in our newsletter.

The first year half a dozen members participated. The second year a few more members participated. Last year I sent out the request to a Yahoo group across the United States, and about 30 Triumph owners sent me photos of their cars while out on a drive. Those in the northeast, who were snow bound with their cars tucked away under covers in their garage for the winter, were encouraged to go out and pose with their cars in the garage. I coordinated all the photos and sent them to The Vintage Triumph, and Mike Cook published multiple pages of photos taken on February 10th of Triumphs around the US, in the VTR magazine.

This year I want to make it a bigger Drive Your Triumph Day, so I'm emailing Triumph Clubs worldwide, encouraging you to ask your members to drive their Triumph on February 10th, take a photo, and send it to me. I will organize them and work with Mike Cook to get them published in The Vintage Triumph magazine along with our club newsletter. I've set up a special email address for your members to send me their photos: driveyourtriumphday@gmail.com.

Please contact me with any questions you may have, and thank you in advance for getting the message out to your members to Drive Their Triumph on February 10th.

Regards,
Rye Livingston
